The Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis was activated Saturday to investigate the homicide, and the 14 detectives who worked on the case were disbanded Thursday afternoon, according to Scott Workman, deputy commander of the Major Case Squad.
Police found Ricky L. Jenkins Jr., 32, about 12:10 a.m. Saturday in an alley off the 200 block of Ewing Avenue in Madison. He was taken to a hospital, where he died of a gunshot wound.
"Anything we have now will be turned over to Madison," Workman said. "We don't have anybody picked up right now. Throughout the investigation, there were people picked up on warrants on different things."
No one has been charged in connection with the shooting.
Workman wants to thank the officers who "put in the long extra hours to try to solve the case."
